RentMyBase was built to bring transparency to the rental market. Your privacy and anonymity are fundamental to how this platform operates. We do not require you to create an account, provide your name, or log in.

2. Data We Collect

We only collect the absolute minimum data required to make the map functional:

• Rent Data: The rent amount, configuration (BHK), property type, and details you voluntarily submit.
• Location Data: The coordinates of the pin you drop. To protect your exact address, coordinates are automatically artificially rounded (approx. 100-meter radius) before being broadcast to others.
• Contact Information (Optional): If you are looking for a flatmate or acting as a direct owner, you may provide contact info. Emails are encrypted with a simple obfuscation algorithm on the client side to prevent bot scraping, though they may be decrypted for legitimate users making contact.

3. Automated Protections

To prevent spam, we temporarily hash your IP address using a one-way mathematical function (SHA-256). We cannot reverse this hash to see your real IP address. We only use this hash to enforce rate limits (e.g., maximum pins per day from one network).

4. Public Domain Data

By submitting a rent pin to RentMyBase, you agree that the submitted listing details (rent value, location, BHK, one-liner review) are public data intended for community benefit. Please do not include personally identifiable information (PII) like your full name or exact house number in the "one-liner" review section.

5. Third-Party Services

We use standard analytics (like Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity) to understand generalized traffic patterns. These services collect anonymous metadata about your browser, device, and interaction on the site.

This policy may update periodically. The most current version will always be available on this page.
